24 June 2022 – Experts of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) concluded an active week in Paris at the summer session of the OECD's Competition Committee. Csaba Balázs Rigó, President of the Authority, reported to the organisation on the results of the Regional Centre for Competition in Budapest.

The traditional June Competition Week of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) ended on Friday, with a series of roundtable discussions of the Competition Committee and its working groups. The Hungarian Competition Authority represents Hungary in the Competition Committee and in two working groups, which brings together the authorities of the member countries, and it is continuously involved in the work of the organisation.

The Hungarian Competition Authority contributed to the exchange of views on a number of issues raised during the session, tied for the most contributions and speeches among EU Member States. The GVH has therefore prepared contribution based on its experience for discussions on customer cartels, on the unbundling of mergers already implemented and on the use of consumer behavioural assessments, which – in line with its practice – will be published on its website following the meeting.

In the framework of the session, Csaba Balázs Rigó, President of the Hungarian Competition Authority, presented the work and results of the Regional Centre for Competition in Budapest, jointly operated by the OECD and the GVH. The Centre's virtual competition law seminars hosted 480 participants and 45 speakers last year, greatly contributing to the development of competition in the South East, East and Central European regions. This year, with the return of in-person seminars, the Centre continues its professional programme with renewed vigour.

During the week, Csaba Balázs Rigó, President of the Hungarian Competition Authority, had discussions in Paris with, among others, the President of the Peruvian Competition Authority (INDECOPI), which, like Budapest, operates one of the OECD’s three regional training centres in Lima.
