14 April 2021, Budapest – The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) and the Corvinus University of Budapest (BCE) entered into a cooperation agreement for the advancement and support of economic expertise in Hungary. The agreement provides an efficient framework for knowledge sharing between the GVH and the University at both student and researcher level.
Csaba Balázs RIGÓ, President of the GVH, András LÁNCZI, Rector of the Corvinus University of Budapest, and Ákos DOMAHIDI, Chancellor of the University, concluded an agreement on the future cooperation of the two institutions in order to advance and support the science of economics in Hungary. The GVH is going to contribute to teaching and researching the topics of competition economics and competition policy by providing support in a wide variety of ways, such as in the form of organising practical training programmes and projects, providing support to the development of outstanding talents and supporting training workshops. In turn, the University is going to support the employees of the GVH by providing a training course related to one of the most important fields of today, behavioural economics, among others.
‘To perform its duties, the GVH requires the expertise of the economic analysts of the future. On the other hand, the students and researchers of the University need access to the specialised knowledge and practical experience we have gathered over the years, which cannot be obtained from anywhere else. Therefore, the agreement we signed benefits fair competition, thus serving the interests of the Hungarian consumers, and the advancement of economics in Hungary at the same time’, stated Csaba Balázs RIGÓ, President of the GVH.
‘Our University boasts a long-standing tradition in economic education. This agreement provides an opportunity for students to analyse questions related to economics, industrial organisation, and regulatory oversight in a real-world setting, through real data and cases, thus acquiring competencies sought after and valued on the labour market’, said András LÁNCZI, Rector of the Corvinus University of Budapest.
