We choose cooperation, not fragmentation," the GVH President underlined in the Chinese capital.

The 11th International Forum on Fair Competition Policy of China is held in Beijing on the 8th and 9th of September 2025, organized by the State Administration for Market Regulation of China. The main topic of the event is the role of competition policy in shaping the future by creating more equitable and dynamic market conditions.

Among other distinguished guests, the President of the Hungarian Competition Authority, who is a permanent member of the Steering Group (SG) of the International Competition Network (ICN) since 2023 was also invited to the conference. In his speech, Csaba Balázs Rigó outlined the professional practices and latest experiences of the Hungarian Competition Authority, highlighting the results of its market analysis on artificial intelligence completed in autumn 2024, as well as the GVH's accumulated experience in the field of digital consumer protection, with particular regard to proceedings against global technology companies (e.g. TikTok, Microsoft). In this regard, the President of the GVH emphasized: "The consumer always comes first. Competition is the best consumer protection tool. However, competitors' market behaviour must never harm consumers' interests."

In his presentation, Csaba Balázs Rigó highlighted the GVH's active role in curbing food inflation, emphasizing the key role of the Authority’s targeted investigations and the online Price Monitor system operated by the GVH. He pointed out that competition authorities must play an increasingly important role in addressing non-traditional competition law issues.

The President also showcased introduced the Hungarian Competition Authority's extensive network of international relations. As he said, "The exchange of experiences and professional cooperation based on mutual respect is of paramount importance to the Hungarian Competition Authority." Csaba Balázs Rigó pointed out: "In geopolitical terms, Hungary stands between East and West. If we choose fragmentation and build blocs, we weaken Europe's competitiveness. The President underlined: Instead, we believe in relationships and cooperation based on mutual respect."

The GVH is actively involved in the European Competition Network (ECN), the International Competition Network (ICN), the working groups of the International Consumer Protection Network (ICPEN), operates a joint training center with the OECD in Budapest, and is an observer member of the professional cooperation between the competition authorities of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), that held its most recent meeting in Budapest in April 2025.

Participation in the international conference in Beijing suits well the strategic development of the Hungarian Competition Authority's professional network. Among others, the Presidents of the Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese national competition authorities also participated and gave presentations at this prestigious international event.
