Decision of the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) Vj-197/2005: AEGON Magyarország Pénztárszolgáltató Rt.

The Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority (Gazdasági Versenyhivatal - GVH) concluded in its decision, issued on 11 April 2006, that AEGON infringed the provisions on the prohibition of unfair manipulation of consumer choice of the Hungarian Competition Act.

In the competiton supervision proceedings it was established that AEGON published advertisements in which it misled consumers as for the return and costs of its private pension fund.

AEGON was ordered to pay a fine of HUF 70 million (approx. EUR 266,000) for its unlawful behaviour.
