Summary in English: Decision Vj-198/2005 of the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority: MTM-SBS Televízió Rt.

The Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority (Gazdasági Versenyhivatal - GVH) concluded in its decision issued on 4 April 2006, that MTM-SBS Televízió infringed the provisions on the prohibition of unfair manipulation of consumer choice of the Hungarian Competition Act.

In the competition supervision proceeding it was established that MTM-SBS Televízió published advertisements in which it stated that the TV series "Desperate housewives" had the highest rate in terms of popularity (i.e. as far as the number of consumers watching it was concerned). It could, however, not justify these statements and the data analysed in the competition supervision proceeding proved the contrary.

MTM-SBS Televízió was fined HUF 40 million (approx. EUR 154.000) for its unlawful behaviour.
